After a month of daily use (1-1.5h/day) of predawn dog walking beach/national park/neighborhood reveals a high quality headlamp option. Compliments: excellent luminosity, and the four options cover any situation (lowest is fine for being viewed, highest is almost too bright for viewing, leaving ghosting). Difficult to find a red light option in the current marketplace (the reason I purchased two, following recent good experience with DE Nano and Pro), this works flawlessly as well. The rhythm to switch between the eight options is predictable and easy to master. The power button offers clear and positive resistance. The rubberized texture on the band holds better than Petzl offerings; the strap itself is very easy to adjust. For those who like a vertical strap, there is an attachment point already cut in to the housing. Unscrewing the housing to reveal the USB-C charging point is a thoughtful way to bolster its strength and waterproofing claims. I believe the 20h+ charge claim, easily. Critiques: we'll see about the plastic housing holding the metal lamp itself to the band; its ability to index the light angle is good, however. That housing can get hot, but in a South Carolina August, I did not feel it was overheating. Charging the black headlamp revealed an expensive-looking red to green indicator light in the power button; however, the orange version was only shades of orangish-red (three charges later, I do not notice any adverse effects in battery life-- nevertheless, strange to be different within models since the lamp itself is the same). Observations: the light emitted is quite bright and of an interesting luminosity. I also use Pelican and Streamlight flashlights on these same long walks, and the DE reflects in much more pronounced fashion: against signage and animal eyes (it illuminated a small cat's eyes very brightly at well over 50m). I think this is an attribute but be advised that, in fog or haze, it seems to pick up the humidity visually more than my other lights, including Petzls. Finally, the positive grip of the headband is listed in 'Compliments' above. That said, you sacrifice the long term comfort of Petzl , which is inherently lighter, too (even if you don't sense the heat of the housing noted above). I prefer wearing the DE over headgear. High quality and design choices if the commentary above meets your requirements.
